Renewing Dignity at the Village
Central to our mission is the goal of renewing dignity for those we serve. A significant way we facilitate this is through the quality of the safe shelter we provide. For those seeking shelter with us who have experienced abuse and homelessness, many lack the feelings of self-worth and self-esteem that can often be taken for granted.
Because of this, we understand that renewing their dignity does not simply happen by providing a roof over the heads of our residents. Their dignity also involves more than just access to services. Renewing the dignity of women and children requires an improvement of their quality of life.
For these women and children who have survived situations of poverty, abuse, and homelessness, improving their physical surroundings plays a vital role in the renewal of their dignity. With this in mind, we are launching a comprehensive renovation project for the residential living areas at the Village. More than just renewing furniture and fixtures, this is an effort to renew the dignity of our residents.
Local businesses have contributed to this effort including Arkansas Blue and Grand Savings Bank. Individual churches are needed to sponsor the individual rooms of our residents at a cost of $3,000 for a full room’s renovation. The first church who has committed to this effort and is helping us build a model room is Living Word Lutheran Church.
