Walmart Foundation Feeds the Village
Improving Access and Availability to Healthier Food
This grant will provide access to healthier food at the Village, and it will fund our new Food Service Coordinator position who will prepare healthy communal meals for our residents and teach residents how to prepare nutritious meals for themselves. Securing healthy food is a vital component for restoring the lives of women and children who have been impacted by domestic violence, homelessness, and other forms of abuse.
New kitchen equipment has also been purchased, including a new ice machine and stove. Funding from this grant will also help facilitate our meal program at the Eighth Street Motel that feeds those experiencing homelessness.
Thank you, Walmart Foundation!
Thank you, Walmart Foundation, for restoring lives with Restoration Village!
About Walmart.org –
In 1962, Sam Walton opened the doors of the first Walmart. He recognized the value of bringing affordable products to people in small towns. Walmart has been helping people save money – and live better – ever since. In 1982, the Walmart Foundation was created to help support the communities Walmart serves. Together, Walmart and the Walmart Foundation generally provide more than $1 billion in cash and in-kind annual giving.
Walmart corporate giving and Walmart Foundation programs parallel Walmart’s shared value priorities and include economic opportunity, sustainable supply chains, and local communities. Their giving team develops each philanthropic program strategy based on a system-level theory of change and a theory of action for philanthropy to accelerate social and environmental progress. They believe that work in these areas are not only beneficial for their business bottom line, but also creates shared value for customers and society.
